Honest Experience with Sparkle

I've had a genuinely frustrating experience with Sparkle. At first, it seemed like a great solution for organizing files, and I hoped for seamless organization. But I started encountering bugs, like a PDF getting infinitely duplicated, which wastes resources and undermines reliability. When I tried to deduplicate, the files remaining that would remain were the originals, which defeats the purpose—especially since you often need the most recent version of a file when dealing with PowerPoints or updated PDFs. There’s no option to change this in the settings. That infinite duplicate issue PDF dates back four months and is still present, even after I’ve mentioned it back then. I’ve lost trust in Sparkle’s ability to deliver on its promises, and I’m concerned about how it interacts with and can modify the file system. Also, there’s no obvious stop button or way to pause all activity. Overall, the UI looks good but lacks the functionality you’d expect for something that touches the most crucial parts of your work.

Automation for categorizing files into folders

First of all, congratulations on Sparkle — it’s a fantastic product and it’s already helping me a lot. I was wondering if it would be possible to add a feature to automatically categorize certain types of files into specific folders. For example, I’d like to automate that any receipt or invoice is moved into the right folder, and even better, that receipts and invoices for different companies are automatically filed into a dedicated folder for each company. Is something like this already possible in the product and I’ve just missed it, or would it be something to consider for the future?

Refund/Subscription Cancel

Hi, I’ve messaged you via E-Mail on the 28th of November that I have a double billing issue. At the time, I had an every trial subscription running. Before that, I signed up to Sparkle and subscribed to the trial. I only connected my Every Account to Sparkle after the fact. Now I cannot access my billing and am getting charged $10/month. Every time I log in to Sparkle on the web, it takes me to my Every Account settings where I cannot access the Sparkle subscription. Please refund the last two months of Sparkle. I've notified you about the issue around a month ago and have not gotten a response.

File Organization

Would like to request that Sparkle provide choices for file organization for long-term storage e.g. files and folders that have common keywords or content which would then organize the content by date and find duplicates with the title of the folder or file or attached keywords. I was looking if this already exists but unclear in your “guide”.

The illusion of organizing a folder

I should have been much more cautious in trusting your promises. I'd call them vibe coding promises. The Downloads folder, 2,400 files, was organized only into medicine folders when those files contain a considerable variety of topics that have nothing to do with medicine. When I did the Revert, all the files had the same date. From the comments I see, it doesn't seem like you have any embarrassment about the abysmal quality of your product.

Refund Request

I sign in to Sparkle with Apple ID and the “Hide email” option. Now it is impossible to me to sign in again to Sparkle, Every or even here. I didn’t receive a notification for the end of the free trial period and the start of the paid one (this is mandatory in Europe) so I discover the payement from my bank account. No email, nothing. I want a refund since I do not use the app and I wasn’t notified.

How do I add my desktop to sparkle?

Can’t figure out how to add new folders to this app so it can organize files? Seems like weird thing not to be obvious in the UI, like a “+” icon or something should be there to add an Active Smart Folder? Also need bertter support/help for little how-to’s like this in the app. Not sure I would continue using this product based on initial impact, also unclear why I would replace Mac Spotlight bar? What am I missing? What is this app good at vs. Mac not good at?

I agree with many others, this app does not do what it says. I cannot find most of my files anywhere. The site itself, says they are in places that make no sense. And again, I cannot access most of them from my anywhere except maybe the Sparkle site?! This is unprofessional to say the least and absolutely not acceptable! I want not only a refund, but also ALL of my files back where they were!!!
